Quaternary Geology is a 16-hour video tape of a course in Quaternary Geomorphology, taught by Dr. Roy J. Shlemon, nationally and internationally recognized geomorphologist and soil scientist. Dr. Shlemon has worked world wide on nuclear power plants, dam sites, and critical facility fault exploration projects. His papers cover a wide range of projects including the San Onofre, and other nuclear power plant siting investigations in California, Arizona and in the Middle East; Auburn dam; and the a 'critical facility' in San Diego, the City Administration and Police Facility structure.

Quaternary Geology covers the use of soil stratigraphic and relative dating methods; and the use of 14-C, K/Ar, U/-Th, TL and other numeric dating techniques. In addition, the tapes describe methods of fault exploration, and methods to trace buried geomorphic surfaces and channel systems for recovery of sand and gravel, gold, tin and other placer deposits; and for analysis of potential contaminant plumes. The course ends with a field trip to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, where the Christianitos fault is exposed. A syllabus of articles which were presented as handouts in the class is included with the tapes.
